Torrent description

cFosSpeed is a high-performance network driver for DSL modems and routers. Highlights of this program include Traffic Shaping, For DSL modems and routers, Fully compatible with conventional PPPoE drivers, Automatic router detection, Self-calibrating, Highly responsive when used with online games and Peer-to-Peer networks like eMule or Kazaa, and Freely configurable priority classes.

cFos Traffic Shaping reduces delays during data transfer and allows you to surf the Internet up to three times faster. Finally, you can use the full bandwidth of your DSL connection!

During TCP/IP transfer, a certain amount of data needs to be confirmed upon reception before more can be sent. Stalling data confirmation results in delays and transfer-rate slowdowns, thus forcing the sender to wait.

Especially for ADSL, it is possible to slow a download to a crawl by choking the upstream channel (which has the smaller bandwidth anyway) with an upload. This is because in such a scenario there is not enough upstream bandwidth left for data confirmation. The standard solution so far has been to try and compensate for this by increasing TCP window size, thereby allowing more data to be sent without immediate confirmation. The main problem here is that this also leads to high ping times (latency) and significant delays during Webpage rendering. Latency of up to 2 seconds is not uncommon for TCP windows with a size of 64k. In short, huge window sizes just won't let you achieve full download speed.

By contrast, cFos Traffic Shaping prioritizes data traffic in such a fashion that important packets zip past regular packets. This way, receipts always arrive in time, and uploads won't ever choke your broadband connection again! cFos Traffic-Shaping technology recognizes a number of important packet types and prioritizes them not only to keep Internet traffic running smoothly but also to ensure particularly low ping times. This not only accelerates surfing and download speeds significantly, but it is also a decisive advantage for online gaming. With cFos Traffic Shaping, you will notice measurable improvements and benefits like:

Full download rate during upload.
Consistently quick response time while surfing the Web or running other applications.
Improved VoIP speech quality.
Perfect for online gamers!
Extended Traffic Shaping for DSL modems, cable modems & routers.
Highly responsive when used with online games and filesharing (P2P) like eMule, Kazaa or Bittorrent.
Minimal ping times for streaming audio & video, Voice over IP (VoIP), Internet Radio, etc.
Individual program prioritization.

Traffic Shaping best for:

Broadband: DSL, Cable
Narrow band: modem, ISDN
Filesharing (P2P)
Streaming Media, VoIP

What's new in cFosSpeed 4.22 build 1406:

Add: Filter expressions -s and -d now accept lists of addresses. Thanks to reMiND for the idea.
Add: Added a switch to log all TCP connections with their adresses, ports, statistics, etc. to a disk file. This may be good if you want to see what happened, when you didn't watch the status window. The data of the sessions is not saved, only statistics. To activate set "spd gset log_sessions 1". Add a "-save" if you want to keep it activated after a restart. The disk file is called session_log.txt; you can set it max size with gset variable max_session_log_size, default is 1mb.
Add: Added spd command "tcb" to show interactively some of the info that is written to session_log.txt.

Fix: cFosSpeed now uses less allocations and thus less CPU load.
Fix: Fixed psched.sys crash. Thanks to Reinhold Gose for dump file.
Fix: IP reassembly code was broken. Fixed.
Fix: Fixed a cfosspeed.exe crash. Thanks to Steffen Rose for report.
Fix: Low latency mode lowered the TCP MSS even in cases where the increased amount of TCP ACKs would totally saturate the upstream. We now only lower the MSS if the RX and TX rates are reasonably symmetrical. Thanks to Oliver Rauh for bug report.
Fix: To fix the case where line geometry is such that you have lots of download and not much upload (like 1024/32) we now limit the amount of data that is sent out prioritised in classes high and higher to 40% of TX-bandwidth each. If that limit is exceeded, packets are sent out like any other packet is with default priority.
